It’s that time of year again—a special day to celebrate fathers and father figures alike, the hardworking caregivers in all of our lives who deserve a day of recognition. Gifts are great, but an experience is something to hang onto forever. If you’re looking to make this year’s festivity extra memorable, here are some of our favorite ways to show dad appreciation.
Eat, treat and repeat.
If the June sun is shining on Father’s Day weekend, plan a delicious outdoor brunch or barbecue with dad’s favorite foods. Hot coffee or mimosas, burgers or omelets—whatever strikes his fancy (you know him best!). Turn on some of his go-to tunes, and create a relaxing atmosphere where he can sit back, unwind and enjoy some rest and relaxation with his favorite people.
Get outdoors!
There’s nothing like nature to put the mind at ease and get the body moving. Choose an activity near you, whether it be a hike in the forest, a morning of surfing, fishing at the lake or taking in views from a mountaintop. This is a great opportunity to connect with dad, get into a good conversation and share a moment of beauty together.
Game on.
Does the father in your life have a competitive side? Well, give him the opportunity to unleash it! Spend the afternoon golfing (or mini-golfing!), playing tennis, pickleball or just going to the arcade and playing some skeeball. The goal? Lots of laughter, plenty of smiles and maybe some wagers made.
Grab the popcorn.
Sometimes, busy dads just want to sit back in a comfy chair with snacks in hand and watch their favorite sports game. This year, give dad power over the remote and turn on that game he’s been talking about. Alternatively, if going out sounds fun, pick a movie and hit the theater! Stop for an ice cream afterward for bonus points.
Whatever you decide to do, Dad will love it. What matters most to him is that he’s with you. So, Father’s Day here we come—make it count!
